OVERVIEW

The Wellness app for gamers​:

Our concept aims to help gamers manage screen time and develop healthy habits. This app generates individualized reminders by tracking game statistics such as a user’s win-loss rate.

This allows a stronger sense of accountability that goes further than general wellness apps. Rather than simply telling users to stop playing video games, we encourage gaming while steering users to rethink their gaming habits.

CHALLENGE

How can we create a wellness and time management app catered to gamers?

Since gamers don’t currently have a strong support system and often have mental health struggles, GLHF aims to adapt to multiple situations by adjusting to the user.

COMPONENTS WE WANTED TO INCLUDE

  • Reminders: breaks, sleep, hygiene, water, food, exercise, plans, events, socialization, etc

  • Tools for reflection: journaling, notes for game improvement, mood tracker

  • Timeout system to limit gaming or screentime.  Time management tools.

  • A collection & rewards system to incentivize improvement.

USER FLOW

APPROACH

Using progressive disclosure to help users recognize their needs.  

In order to encourage the user to sign up, we intentionally kept the setup flow brief and to the point.  After the user has answered the short prompts, the app curates an individualized recommendation for each category.  

In this prototype, we created two examples of either an individual who is winning, with playful banter, or one who is on a losing streak who may be tilted, or extremely mad.
